this might be a very useful script for people who are migrating to vSphere4 and want to leverage thin provisioning for thick provisioned VMs in ESX 3.5 or earlier.http://ben.neise.co.uk/index.php/2010/03/automatically-converting-machines-to-thin-provisioned-format/

My Journey into Virtualization World
Posted in Uncategorized on October 25, 2008 by vmware2hyperMy journey into the Virtual World started with Virtual PC, when i recieved those Shinning DVDs after becoming an MCT. I was fascinated by the ability to run OS on top of another OS and the unlimitted possibilites made available to a IT guy.
I could run multiple OS without a reboot of the box and also create a network of computers to test out different environments and could manipulate the features made available and also prepare my training content. This made life easy for me as i was no longer was stuck with dearth of computers.
Then came MS Virtual server 2005 and made life little more easier and building MSCS easy. But i did not like getting stuck with one vendor and started exploring VMware Workstation/Virtual Server and i felt i am the king and i have a full fledged IT environment.
In my later posts i will try to post on how i explored the unlimitted possiblities provided by virtualization and how i got things working and share my experiences.
Virtualization
Posted in virtualization on June 1, 2008 by vmware2hyperWhat is more interesting real or virtual. For something to be a reality you need to think of it aka.. virtual and that is virtualization for you. When it comes to IT we see more of reality becoming virtual. Virtualization has made it so easy to get Systems up in no time and get going for testing. Now organizations are going the virtual way getting their physical infrastructer going virtual.
